The Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the 31st annual BBQ Cookoff Friday through Sunday at Thorndale City Park.

The schedule includes:

• Friday through Sunday there will be a softball tournament at city park ball fields.

• Friday—BBQ teams set up and check-in; fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. a n d a d a n c e featuring live b a n d “B Side Boy z” at t h e c i t y park pavilion from 8 p.m. t o m i d n i g h t . Admission $10 at the gate.

• Saturday—The barbecue competition will be under way after the cooks’ meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the VFW Memorial Hall. Arts and crafts booths and food concessions will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park pavilion. “42” domino tournament in the Fireman’s Hall with registration from 10-11 a.m. Play begins 11 a.m.

• Thorndale VFD Ladies Auxiliary will serve up their famous turkey-and-dressing dinner which will also be inside the Fireman’s Hall beginning at 11 a.m. Plates will be sold for $12 each including dessert. The washer pitching tournament begins at noon, with registration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

• BBQ winners will be at 5 p.m. announced i n t h e pavili o n . There will be a fireworks show at 10 p.m. on Sat-plus a urday from 8 to dance midnight w ith music provided by “Lonesome Prayer.” Admission is $10.

• Scheduled on Sunday are the final rounds of the softball tournament.
