Stillhouse Hollow

GOOD. Water light ly stained; 78 degrees; 19.13 feet below pool.

Fall cold fronts are now starting to roll in on a weekly basis and water temperatures are beginning to drop in advance of turnover.

These fronts create a “boom-bust” cycle of fishing with excellent fishing taking place as cold fronts roll in and north winds rise to a peak. Fishing bottoms out as the north winds go calm and as bright, clear, cool conditions develop.

Average fishing takes place between these two sets of conditions.

With the water now cooled to the high 70s down to 35 feet, white bass are beginning to use the bottom much more and suspend less. The MAL Heavy with white tail has been my best producer when schooled fish are found on bottom.

Downrig ging with Pet Spoons is a go-to for suspended fish, and a Cork Rig with a streamer matching the forage size is still working well for the diminishing topwater bite which consists mainly of schooling largemouth.

Larger black bass are still found on the outside edge of hydrilla taking dark soft plastics in natural colors.
