POLICE REPORT

A Saturday traffic stop resulted in a narcotics charge involving the “designer drug” ecstasy.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Ofc. Joah McCaleb stopped a vehicle on a “minor” traffic offense.

“Upon inspection, some pills were recovered which tested positive as less than a gram of ecstasy,” Goodrich said.

Michael Damond Williams, 45, of Rockdale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram).

He was released from the county jail after posting $7,000 bond.

OFFENSES—Goodrich said police have recovered two pickups reported to have been taken without permission from a Rock-dale residence.

A cell phone theft was reported to police during the week.

Other offense investigations begun included theft, assault of family member causing bodily injury and public intoxication.

ACCIDENTS—Police were called to three accidents during the past week.

The RPD responded to a major accident at 7:20 p.m. March 26 in the McDonald’s parking lot.

Police listed drivers as Riadh Baban of Rockdale and Mark Sieber of Corpus Christi.

According to police, Baban was transported to an area medical facility by an AMR ambulance crew.

Vehicle damages were termed major.

Police said report was received at 2:37 p.m. Thursday that a vehicle had struck a brick staircase on West Cameron Avenue (US

79) near Eagle Automotive.

Ofc. Corey Puente said the driver had walked away from the accident but was later detained. The driver was listed as Benny Earl Green of Rockdale. Major damages to both the vehicle and the staircase were reported.

Police said vehicles operated by Raymond Walker III, of Caldwell and Caitlyn Slaughter of Rockdale were in collision at 4:23 p.m. Monday in the Brookshire Bros. parking lot.

Damages were termed minor.

CITATIONS—Police issued 41 citations during the week including 41 for speeding, two each for running a stop sign, failure to report change of address/ name and expired registration and one each for no liability insurance and failure to yield right of way.

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 170 calls for service during the week and 95 calls were received through the 911 reporting system.
