Friday night Travis County deputy Robert Small, 48, was killed in a collision in Milam County on US 79 between Milano and Gause.
Small was driving a motorcycle and collided with another vehicle, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, which is investigating the crash.
Small was off duty and driving home from Louisiana at the time of the collision.
He was westbound on US 79 when an eastbound car driven by a 17-year-old from Cameron, according to the news release, crossed over into Small’s lane and hit the motorcycle.
Small, of Wimberley, was declared dead at the scene.
