In the presidential balloting the team of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence smothered the Democrat’s Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris 7,950 to 2,475. The Republican pair got 75 percent of the votes beating their winning percent of 74 in 2016.

Nationwide the votes were still being counted Wednesday in the presidential race.

In one of the few contested races on the local ballot Janice Keen won the place 6 seat on the Rockdale Inde pendent School District with 1,576 votes to Michael Whitsel’s 1,359 votes.

Also voters decided to let the city sell the fairgrounds to the Rockdale Fair Association in a 1,010 to 689 vote.

Voters in the county gave Sen. John Cornyn, the Republican, 7,725 votes to help him win back his Senate seat that Democrat Mary “MJ” Hegar tried to take. She got 2,365 votes, and the numbers statewide favored Cornyn, also.

Republican Pete Sessions, who has represented multiple districts in the U.S. House, is going back to that body as he defeated Rick Kennedy, the Democrat, in the race, 7,766 to 2,305 in Milam County while also getting the most votes in the rest of House District 17.

In the Texas House District 20 race, Incumbent Terry Wilson, Republican, defeated Jessica Tiedt 7,798 to 2,266. The rest of the district also went in Wilson’s favor.

The following, all incumbents and Republicans, were returned to office without opposition: District Judge of the 20th Judicial District John W. Youngblood, 8,671 votes; County Attorney Bill Torrey, 8,275 votes; Sheriff Chris White, 8,580 votes; County Tax Assessor-Collector Sherry Mueck, 8,621 votes; Constable, Precinct 2 Charles L “Charlie” West, 1,782 votes; and Constable, Precinct 3 Jay Beathard, 2,475 votes.

Henry “Hub” Hubick, a Republican, is the new commissioner for Precinct 1, winning with 2,085 votes. Arthur Neal, also a Republican, won the commissioner’s seat in Precinct 3 with 2,472 votes. James Pratt, a member of the Grand Old Party, is the new constable for Precinct 1 winning with 2,097 votes and no opposition.

Michael Moehling, Republican, defeated Democrat Sammy Pickett in the constable race in Precinct 4 1,930 votes to 737 votes.

Denise Holmes Wallace was unopposed in her bid to return to her East Ward seat on the Rockdale City Council.

Lin Perry is a new member of the Rockdale City Council winning a West Ward seat with no opposition.

Also winning office to the Rockdale Hospital District Board without opposition were Geraldine Offield, Place 2 East Ward; Karolyn Puccio, Place 4 West Ward; Lachelle Matthews, at-large.

On the Hospital Proposition B Voters okayed adding to the “Rockdale Hospital District that portion of Milam County, Texas that is located within the Rockdale Independent School District but not in the Rockdale Hospital District as of September 1, 2019” by a vote of 1,759 to 1,440.

But voters rejected the Hospital Proposition C proposition that would have allowed that portion of Milam County, Texas that is located within the Rockdale Hospital District as of September 1, 2019, assuming its proportionate share of the outstanding debt and taxes of the Rockdale Hospital District, if it is added to the dis trict in a 1,696 to 1,428 vote
