POLICE REPORT
Police made two felony arrests during the week with both ending up as “resisting arrest” cases.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police served five Milam County warrants Saturday and ended up adding a resisting arrest charge.
Carlos Cadena, 31, of Rockdale, was charged with resisting arrest as well as the five warrants from Milam County.
He was released after posting $22,500 bond.
Goodrich said police served a local warrant the previous day. That action ended in an additional charge of resisting arrest.
Richard Anthony Naranjo, 24, of Thorndale, remained in custody at presstime on $29,000 bond.
ACCIDENTS—Police were called to a pair of traffic accidents during the week.
Police said vehicles operated by Alvin Wilganowski and Bianca Gonzales were in collision at 5:23 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Meadow-West Cameron (US 79) intersection.
Damages were termed moderate to the Wilganowski pickup and moderate to the Gonzales car.
Police said property damage was reported when a car struck a metal gate at the Rice-Ferguson intersection at 10:25 p.m. Saturday.
Driver was listed Jaheim Rubin of Rockdale. Minor vehicle damages were reported.
OFFENSES—Police are investigating the theft of an auto.
Goodrich said the car’s owner had driven someone to a local location and returned to find the passenger and the vehicle were gone. That investigation is continuing, he said.
Other offense investigations begun during the past week included assault causing bodily injury, criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana (less than two ounces) and public intoxication.
CITATIONS—Police issued 64 citations during the past seven days, including 52 for speeding, four for expired registration and two for no proof of liability insurance.
SERVICE CALLS— During the past week officers responded to 156 calls and 74 calls were received through the 911 system.
