Two Cameron residents were arrested during the week and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
Mark Mason, 49, and 48-year-old Pamela Maret, 48, Cameron, were arrested Thursday following an investigation that included Cameron police, the Milam County Sheriff’s Department and the Child Advocacy Center in Belton.
Cameron Police Chief Lonnie Gosch said the investigation included CPD Investigator Oscar Lopez, with assistance from Doug Smith, Child Protective Services special investigator.
Gosch said investigators believe at least nine incidents occurred involving the victim, identified as a male first grader when the incidents began.
Mason was released after posting $100,000 bond while, at presstime, Maret remained in the county jail under an identical bond.
Gosch expressed appreciation to all who investigated the case.
