Two connected incidents Friday and Saturday, one in retaliation for the other, sent two people to hospitals and resulted in four arrests, so far, according to Lt. Stephen Goodrich of the Rockdale Police Department.
Lt. Goodrich said Rey Rubio Sr. and wife Blanche Rubio, ages 62 and 66 respectively, were assaulted Saturday as part of an ongoing series of incidents involving passers-by.
He said Mrs. Rubio was hospitalized for injuries to her arms and legs and was later released. “We were investigating that
“We were investigating that incident but the next day son, grandson and step-son of the couple confronted the two men believed responsible,” Goodrich said. “The confrontation became a fight.”
As a result of the fight, 30-year-old Gerald Washington of Rockdale was hospitalized with serious head injuries in a Round Rock hospital. Goodrich said Washington is expected to be released at mid-week.
Charged in connection with the Saturday incident:
• Reynaldo Rubio Jr., 39, Rockdale, assault causes bodily injury, released on $1,000 bond.
• John David Gutierrez, 42, Rockdale, assault causes bodily injury, released on $2,500 bond.
• Jon-David Mendoza, 23, Rockdale, assault causes bodily injury, released on $2,500 bond.
Charged with the assault on the Rubios:
• Jordan Deshawn Deary, 27, Rockdale, injury child/ elderly/disabled with bodily injury, assault cause bodily injury, released on $12,500 bond.
SCUFFLE—Charges were filed earlier Friday in connection with an incident in which two police officers responded to a domestic violence report.
Jason James Naranjo, 21, of Rockdale, was charged with assault on a public servant and attempting to take a weapon from an officer.

• 6:44 p.m. July 22, Dairy Queen parking lot; drivers, Karen Graham and Tiffany Pelzel, both of Rockdale.
• 12:54 p.m. Saturday, Main-Cameron intersection; drivers, Anita Moreno of Rockdale and Kenneth Scott of Bossier City, Louisiana. Minor to no damage to vehicles.
