Rockdale police stopped a vehicle sought by North Milam law officers Monday and arrested its lone occupant, a person authorities don’t believe was in the vehicle when the chase began.

Rockdale Police Thomas Harris said the chase began in the Cameron area, with the vehicle headed toward Rockdale but the driver was able to elude the pursuit.

“We received a vehicle description and were able to stop it at the corner of Copeland and Hillyer,” he said.

Harris said a male was believed to have been the driver when the chase began.

“When we stopped it, the only occupant was a female,” he said.

Shanita Yvonne Tindle, 29, of Rockdale, was charged with hinder apprehension or prosecution and evading arrest/detention with vehicle.

She remains in custody in, the Milam County Jail. Bond was denied.

DRUG ARRESTS—Police made three arrests for drug possession during two traffic stops during the past week.

Harris said each instance involved methamphetamine.

Charged were:

• Crystal Carole Easley, 42, Rockdale possession of controlled substance (1 to 4 grams), in custody on $20,000 bond.

• Michael Chad Easley, 36, Rockdale, possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams), in custody on $20,000 bond.

• Andrew Allen Nipps, 42, Rockdale, possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram), bond surrenders for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair and two counts of possession of controlled substance (less than one gram), in custody on $44,000.

ACCIDENTS—Police were called to two accidents on Rock-dale roads during the past week.

Officers said vehicles operated by Dustin Thalmann of Austin and Trina Young of Somerville were in collision at 4:44 p.m. Saturday at the San Gabriel-East Cameron (US 79) intersection.

Damages were termed “medium: by police.

Medium damages was also recorded in a two-vehicle collision at 10:40 p.m. Saturday in US 79 in front of Regency Inn.

Police listed drivers Dequalin Messer of Rockdale and Adriana Rivas of Cameron.

CALLS—Officers made 132 service calls and there were 82 calls through the 911 system.
