POLICE REPORT

An attempted traffic stop Tuesday night on Pear Street became a vehicle chase out to rural area, then a foot chase and finally ended with the arrest of two Rockdale women.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Ofc. Davin Stephens gave chase after the driver refused to stop and pursued the vehicle along county roads in the FM 908-FM 486 area north of town.

“The vehicle finally got stuck in the mud,” Goodrich said.

After a foot chase the driver, identified as Anita Moreno, 23, of Rockdale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams) and a passenger, 28-year-old Rebecca Lara of Rockdale, with tampering/ fabricating evidence with intent to impair.

Bond information was not available at presstime Tuesday.

Arrests were made by Pfc. Stevens and Sgt. Jody Tillery.

ARREST—In the only other felony arrest during the past week, Jackson Oliver, 27, of Rockdale, was charged Sept 18 with violation of bond/protection order and possession of controlled substance (less than one gram).

He remained in custody Tuesday on $9,000 bond.

ACCIDENT—Moderate damages were reported at 9:03 a.m. Sept. 19 in a collision involving two 18-wheelers on the US 77 overpass over US 79.

Drivers were listed as Robert Shiner of Marshall and Robert Baugh of Comanche.

The Rockdale VFD and an MR ambulance crew also responded.

OFFENSES—Police investigated two reports of burglary of a habitation over the past week, along with two thefts, an assault and an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

CITATIONS—Citations issued during the week included 14 for speeding, two for driving while license invalid and one each for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and expired registration.

Two citations were issued for possession of drug paraphernalia.

SERVICE CALLS— Police responded to 151 calls for service over the past week and there were 85 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
