In yet another poor voter turnout for Rockdale city and school elections, the following races were determined.
Rockdale City Council— Daniel Willie won the open westside spot with 130 votes (56.77%) to incumbent Kyle Walker’s 78 votes (34.06%) and Taylor Hjorth’s 21 votes (9.17).
Rockda le School Board— Amy Ogea Casas keeps her Trustee Place 3 spot with 240 votes (67.80%) to Quinn Kearney’s 114 (32.20%). Scott Heintze easily won the open Trustee Place 5 spot with 297 votes (82.04%) to Brad Ingram’s 65 votes (7.96).
Charles Miles ran unopposed so will keep his Trustee Place 4 spot 309 votes (100%).
THORNDALE— Thorndale had two fairly close races for both mayor and a city council position. George Galbreath will be Thorndale’s mayor with 72 votes (51.80%) to 67 votes (48.20%) for Gerald Niemtschk.
Michael Becker won his city council race with 103 votes (53.37%) to Jared Melde’s 90 votes (46.63%).
Thorndale’s Proposition 1 easily passed with 105 yes votes (78.95%) to 28 no votes (21.05%). Proposition 1 continues a preexisting local sales tax that funds street maintenance and repairs.
