Rockdale police have obtained warrants for four females caught on video during what investigators said was a theft spree at several Rockdale businesses.

Lt. Stephen Goodrich said the group operates with a couple of its members causing a distraction while others take items that have included shirts and purses.

“Not all of them have been involved in all the incidents,” Goodrich said. “We believe we have identified four persons from surveillance camera footage.”

In addition to theft, the warrants also list “engaging in organized criminal activity.”

ARRESTS—Goodrich said a 37-year-old Missouri man was charged Friday in connection with an incident in which a pistol was discharged into the air.

Goodrich said the incident, investigated by Sgt. Jody Tillery, originated with a “physical altercation” between two workers.

“It escalated when one of them got a .22 pistol, made a threat and then fired into the air,” he said.

The other man was not hit by the rounds, police said.

Denny Wayne Gipson Jr.of California, Missouri, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released after posting $25,000 bond.

Goodrich said a Dec. 31 traffic stop, also by Tillery, ended with drug charges being fi led.

“The stop was for defective equipment,” Goodrich said. “After the vehicle was searched methamphetamine and marijuana were located.”

Larry Manuel Martin, 52, of Rockdale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than one gram) and possession of marijuana (less than two ounces).

He was released after posting $8,500 bond.

OFFENSES—Police are looking for a vehicle which was taken during the week without the owner’s permission.

Also during the week, Goodrich said, police began investigating a fraud incident after a report of someone using another persons Social Security number to fi le tax reports.

Other offenses reported during the past week included theft, theft of firearm, three cases of criminal mischief and assault.

ACCIDENTS—No traffic accidents were reported within the Rockdale city limits during the extended reporting period which included the New Year holiday.

CITATIONS—Police issued 23 speeding tickets during the period.

Other citations issued included one each for expired MVI sticker, failure to signal turn and failure to stop (alley, driveway, building).

SERVICE CALLS— Officers responded to 205 calls during the period and there were 93 calls received through the 911 emergency system.
