MILAM 4-H NEWS
National 4-H Week is Oct.6-12. This year’s theme is “Inspire Kids to Do.”
Throughout National 4-H Week, Milam County 4-H will showcase the many ways 4-H inspires kids to do through hands-on learning experiences as well as highlight the remarkable 4-H youth in our community who work each day to make a positive impact on those around them.
Milam County 4-H celebrates National 4-H Week with the following activities:
• Oct. 6—Flowers at churches in honor of National 4-H Week.
• Oct. 7—Color contest entries due to Extension Office
• Oct. 7-8—Wear 4-H shirts .
• Oct. 7-11—Take refreshments or treats to businesses and/or school lounges as a thank you for supporting 4-H.
• Oct. 7-11—4-H members speak on the radio.
• Oct. 10—Coloring contest winners announced.
• Oct. 12—One Day 4-H Community Service Project– Steak, Stein, and Wine Festival, Play Streets and Steak Dinner.
CONTEST—Members can also promote 4-H by participating in the 4-H Coloring Contest. Rules are as follows:
• Color page with markers or crayons.
• Place name on back of page with name, grade, town and age divisions (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12).
• Make sure you color the right page for each age division: Pumpkin, Ages K-2; 4-H Girl, 3-12.
• Must be a 4-H member to participate, enroll online: www.join4h.com.
Coloring pages are due to Extension Office Oct. 7.

4-Hers are nearly four times as likely to contribute to their communities and are twice as likely to engage in science, technology, engineering and math programs during after school time.
