The annual Westbrook-Taylor reunion is set for Sunday, June 30. Per spokesperson Eldon Ball, they will gather at 10 a.m. in the Milano Elementary cafeteria and all will enjoy a shared home-cooked meal, along with pictures and memories of past years in the air conditioned lunchroom. The playground will be open for the younger ones. Mr. Ball asks to please help spread the word to other family members.
‘SPIRIT NIGHT’—“Spirit Night” is set for Thursday at the Cameron Dairy Queen. If you say “Spirit Night” any time from 5 to 8 p.m. that evening, DQ will donate 20-percent of sales to Milam Touch of Love.
This new organization is a non-profit volunteer group which works to help in efforts to care for domestic animals, education for their owners and the community and help achieve responsible ownership goals.
They are striving to serve all of Milam County and do fund-raisers to help purchase needs for the animals, such as food, flea and tick protection, vaccinations, spaying and neutering. For more information about the group, visit www.MilamTouchofLove.org.
FOURTH OF JULY—The City of Milano’s Fourth of July parade has been announced. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the MISD football field and winding through downtown, finishing up at the civic center with a free hot dog lunch with all of the trimmings. Parade winners will be announced during the meal. Line up begins at 9:30 a.m. and judging starts at 10 a.m.
Divisions for the parade entries includes: floats, bicycles/walking/small animals, vehicles/ tractors, small motorized/battery operated (golf carts, four-wheelers, lawn mowers, etc), and horses/wagons.
RAH-RAH-CAMP—Rah-Rah camp this year will be held July 30-31. Watch for more detail in this column in the coming weeks.
JONES BENEFIT—The Sunflower Fun Run/Walk benefiting the Melodie Hope Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund is set for Sept. 28 at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell. The kids’ one-mile fun run is at 9 a.m. and the 5K Sunflower run will start at 9:30 a.m.
Prices are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the Kids Run. Guaranteed T-shirt if registered by Sept. 1.
Please wear bright colors the day of the race. Sunflowers, crazy socks and tutus are encouraged. Registration will also be available on race day from 8-8:45 a.m.
