Rockdale City Manager Chris Whittaker is one of six finalists for the vacant position of city manager in Kingsville.
Kingsville is a city of 25,000 in Kleberg County, southwest of Corpus Christi.
Whittaker, Rockdale City Manager since Dece,ner, 2014, did not elaborate to The Reporter on the situation, but confirmed that a posting on the City of Kingsville’s website last week was correct and that he, along with the other candidates, will be interviewed by the Kingsville City Commission on Oct. 16.
“Where it stands now is that about 50 people applied and I’m one of the six finalists,” he said. “I really won’t know anything else until after the interviews.”
“But I have not yet resigned as Rockdale City Manager,” Whittaker said. “I’m still here, every day.”
Mayor John King told The Reporter he was unaware of the situation and the city is not currently preparing a city manager search.
