It’s actually Cameron Avenue (US 79) but it’s the major thoroughfare in Rockdale and City Manager Chris Whittaker showed the view to Jeanie Weed and about 50 others Thursday from the spacious lobby of the new police department. Work was continuing on the new structure during Thursday’s open house. The new building, which replaces the current 124-year-old former City Hall, is expected to be fully operational on April 4. It was a busy evening for the city. After the open house, Rockdale hosted the Region X meeting of the Texas Municipal League at the Patterson Civic Center.
