A fundraising benefit for Diane Yates will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Cameron VFD Post No. 2010, 1106 W. 22nd St., in Cameron.
Yates is an 80-year-old woman who lost $60,000 when she gave the money to contractor Brandon Myers for home renovations last winter which were never completed. He has since been indicted.
Odes Foster with T&O Services saw a news report about Yates and decided to step in and build her a brand-new home. Local residents have stepped forward to help and invited others to join in.
The benefit will offer barbecue brisket plates for $15 with potato salad, beans and all the fixings. A live auction will begin at 2 p.m. There will be mechanical bull rides for $5 and a free bounce house for kids.
T-shirts are available for $25 and must be pre-ordered by calling Kayle at 979-9061355.
Monetary donations are accepted and are tax deductible if made out to Working for Cameron. A bank account for donations has been set up at Citizens National Bank (any location) or donations through Venmo to @ dianeyatesbenefit.
