Danny Ray Kelley

Services for Danny Ray Kelley, 78, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Phillips & Lucke y Funeral Home in Rockdale. His brother-inlaw, Rev. Jim Muston, will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation is set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the funeral home.

Danny passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, at Park Place Manor in Belton.

He was the middle child of three born to Curtis Ray and Gladys Louise Gregory Kelley on Feb. 24, 1946, in Austin.

On May 6, 1972, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Joyce Muston.

Danny and Bonnie were members of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale.

Danny was a master mechanic and worked at both the Ford and Chevrolet dealerships in Rockdale. He also worked for Onyx Industrial Cleaning Services and United Rentals prior to his retirement.

In 2018, he moved to Eden to be closer to family. While in Eden he came out of retirement to work as the assistant for the director of Eden Housing Authority. Danny greatly enjoyed working with the tenants who live in Eden and he made many friends during his time there.

Danny enjoyed gardening, bird watching, reading historical markers and spending time with his family. He especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; his parents, Curtis and Gladys Kelley; a son, Rusell Kelley Sr.; and a brother, Alan Kelley.

Survivors are two sons, Danny Lee Kelley and wife Jan of Burnett, Kevin Kelley and wife April of Huntsville; two daughters, Darla Zell and husband James of Horseshoe Bay, Amanda Rurup and husband Seth of Temple; a sister, Nancy Ward; sisters-in-law Mavis Farrow and husband Peter, Juanita Beason and husband Billy, Bert Muston-Clark and husband Roy, and Kathy Muston; a brother-in-law, Jim Muston and wife Sandy; and 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Justin, Layla, Emily, Shayla, Kamryn, Russell Jr., Abbie, Lizzie and Nate; also, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Kelley, Seth Rurup, Nate Rurup, Kendal Beason, Caleb Muston, Todd Lee and John Lawhon.
