Schnerr signs up with Temple
All-State shortstop joins Lady Leopards

 Kaitlynne Schnerr just completed her senior year with her team suffering through a disappointing season.
 However, that did not curtail her from having another outstanding year personally.
 Schnerr will continue her storied softball career by signing with Temple College.
 She will join former Rockdale teammate Sammie Meyer as a Lady Leopard. Meyer pitched for Temple this past season.
 The Lady Leps just completed their season Saturday with a loss in the regional tournament and ended up 30-29.
 Schnerr was a first-team all-state selection last season and is coming off a year in which she hit a career-high .492, drove in 29 runs and blasted four home runs.
 The 6-foot shortstop is a career .410 hitter and drove in 81 runs as a four year starter for the Lady Tigers.
 During her four years on the varsity, Rockdale won 77 games and captured three straight district championships.
 Known for her physical style of play, Schnerr was the offensive player of the year in District 18-3A in 2007 and was the district newcomer of the year in 2005.
 Schnerr becomes the fifth Lady Tiger in the past five years to play college softball (Laura Baker-Angelo State, Caitlyn Luetge-North Texas, Sammie Meyer-Temple, Brandy Morgan-St. Edward’s).
All-District
 Schnerr and sophomore Kassie Roddam were named first team all-district in 18-3A.
 Schnerr is a four-year all-district pick, while Roddam was the district newcomer of the year in 2007.
 Senior pitcher Alethea Maldonado was a second team selection, while junior third baseman Julie Birkhead was named honorable mention.
 Maldonado, Rochelle Coumont and Morgan Rios were academic all-district.
 Also, Schnerr and Maldonado have been chosen to play in the coaches North-South All-Star game at Westlake in June.
