2018: Cheerfulness always breaks through

Funny how the simple act of the year turning over into a new one can make us a little queasy. I suppose the reasons are obvious. Seeing the numbers change reminds us of our own mortality.

Bye, 2017

If a year could be said to have been bipolar, 2017 was that year for Rockdale and its residents. Talk about going to the highest highs and the lowest lows. And all in a period of 11 weeks.

At this fall’s town hall meeting to discuss annexation, a comment reverberated in my head and stayed with me. “There’s a reason some of us choose to live in the country.” Yes.
