Veterans need to save all discharge papers Dear editor, A local veteran died recently. Who he is and when he served doesn’t matter in regard to what I have to say. The U.S. government promises all vets a flag for their coffin, a funeral with full military honors.

OUTLAW INLAW Afew weeks ago I took part in the Moth reading series in Austin. This is a story hour that invites people up onto a stage to share true stories from their lives. I shared a story about my time raising my two kids in Rockdale. Back then, I even wrote about it in the paper.

Unfunded mandates: ‘Fighting to keep our cake’

JUDGE’S COMMENTS For years our Texas Legislature has required counties to provide certain services for the citizens of the county such as indigent health care and indigent counsel. However, the legislature does not provide funding for its mandates.

10-20-40-100 YEARS AGO 100 YEARS AGO.... It was a big day for Rock-dale. Milam County commissioners okayed sale of $143,499 in road repair bonds, approved in a 1917 election, all to use on roads in the Rockdale area. “Good Roads Will Be Finished In Time for Fall Trade,” was a Reporter headline deck.
