St. Paul BBQ fundraiser February 5th

St . Pau l Lut he r an Church and School in Thorndale will hold its annual barbecue brisket dinner and live auction fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Thorndale Fireman’s Hall on FM 486 North. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dine-in plates to be purchased at the door for $15.

Powell to again pen Black History Month series for

popular and well-received 43-year Black History Series did not die when revered author Susie Sansom-Piper died in October 2019. T a m a r a Powell, Piper’s granddaughter, has again agreed to write a series for 2023.

Sunday chili and dessert benefit set

Fire claimed the home of Kristi Martin, Clemente Abila and son Easton early Saturday morning. Martin is director of Tiger Town Learning Center. Tiger Town will hold a benefit for the family at their facility on Sunday, selling chili and desserts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We’re supposed to have some evenings/ overnights in the 30s this week. Here are three recipes to warm you up. I think I have everything in my kitchen to make this first one except the fettuccine noodles and the spinach. I also don’t have marjoram which I’d probably leave out anyway.
