Alcoa retirees to meet June 9 in Thorndale Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 9 at 5 p.m. at the Thorndale Veteran’s Memorial Hall. The business meeting begins at 5:45 and then the election for officers. Meals will be $15.

Grilled wings, Greek pasta salad

I don’t need to eat chicken wings, but I have been craving them lately. In this recipe the wings are cooked on an outside grill. The drying step after washing the wings is the most important thing in this recipe because it will help them stay crispy.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 W. Cameron Ave., open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

Memorial Day weekend movies at The Kay

The Kay will be showing three movies all weekend long. The movies are Wonder Woman, Battleship and Midway. See ad on page 1B for show times.

City pool opening this weekend

The city pool at Veterans Memorial Park will be open for Memorial Day weekend according to the City of Rockdale. Admission is $4.

Library hosts Dr. Pruett on June 3rd

On Friday, June 3, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, Dr. John Pruett will present the 18-minute El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail YouTube video, followed by a question-and-answer period.
