BUSINESS OF THE MONTH—Milam County Cowboy Church was awarded business of the month by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce for February. The church was founded in 2007 and has been led by Pastor Greg Spears ever since.

Master Gardeners’ plant sale set for March 5

The Little River Master Gardeners of Milam County is sponsoring a plant sale on March 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 101 E. Main St. in Cameron which was formerly Bea’s Kitchen. There will be hundreds of different plants to choose from and credit and debit cards are accepted.

County judge candidates all around the county

Republican county judge candidate Bill Whitmire speaks to Milano constituents at the Milano Community Center on Feb. 7. Whitmire and almost all of the people running for commissioners seats answered questions and talked to the crowd.

Getting stuck

I’m stuck, but what’s new. I have been teaching on 1st Timothy and the Apostle Paul has asked a young/middle aged pastor named Timothy to hang around in Ephesus and to get things back on track at the church.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open the second and fourth Thursday and Friday of the each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

The gospels: they can be hard

For those who would become followers of Jesus, maybe there should be a little booklet called, “Everything you need to know before you decide to follow Jesus.” Such a booklet might give someone pause. For instance, Jesus demands that all who follow him must take up their own cross.

Rising Star to hold pastoral appreciation

Rising Star Baptist Church will hold its 14th annual Pastoral Appreciation on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. honoring Dr. R.L. and First Lady Margaret Johnson. Seating is limited due to COVID so a Facebook livestream will be also be available. Monetary gifts may be mailed to PO Box 125 in Rockdale.

Milam County down to 38 active COVID cases

Today we have 7 new cases to report and16 cases to discharge, leaving us with 38 active, confirmed cases in the County.  There were no new hospital admissions and no new deaths.  11,105 Individuals in the County are fully vaccinated which is 47.24% of those eligible to be vaccinated.

Three more COVID deaths bring Milam County's total to 97

I am saddened once again to report more COVID-19 related deaths in Milam County.  This evening, we report 3 more deaths bringing the death toll in Milam County to 97.  Our prayers are with the friends and families of those that have passed.
