Rising Star to hold pastoral appreciation Rising Star Baptist Church will hold its 14th annual Pastoral Appreciation on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. honoring Dr. R.L. and First Lady Margaret Johnson. Seating is limited due to COVID so a Facebook livestream will be also be available.

Earth Day t-shirts on sale

The Earth Day t-shirt contest is held each year with entrants being art students at RHS. This year's winning design is the artwork of Catalina Torres, a 10th grader. Congratulations Catalina! We love how you "hid" a Rockdale Tiger in your design. Very creative and impressive.

Milam County is down to 33 covid cases

We have 5 new cases to report, 8 cases to discharge, leaving 33 confirmed, active case of the virus in Milam County.  There were no new hospitalizations and no additional deaths.    Two individuals were tested today, but there are no positive results.

BBQ benefit for ‘Hump’ Sunday at VFW

A barbecue fundraiser for 10-year-old Darian “Hump” Jackson who has been in the hospital with encephalitis since August, will be held on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the VFW Post 6525, at 978 US 79, starting at noon. Pre-orders will only be taken through Feb.

Rockdale Youth Baseball chili fundraiser Saturday

The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association will hold a chili fundraiser at The Ranch on Saturday from 11 a.m. until sold out. There will be a cornhole tournament at noon with single elimination for $20 or $25 for a time buy back option. A silent auction starts at 2 p.m. There will also be live music.

RWMC draws 275 for speakers meal Friday

The Republican Women of Milam County (RWMC) held their annual Independence Dinner and Program on Friday night at 6 p.m. at the Milam County Youth Expo Building in Cameron. About 250 were present for the speakers, auction and a prime rib dinner from Kostroun Catering.

Forensic results back on skull found near Cameron

Forensic results are back after a skull was found in an abandoned home near Cameron. Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore said the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State completed their analyses of the skull and found it consistent with being from an adult Asian male.
