Rockdale VFD Responded to: • 1501 East Belton on Wednesday for a fire alarm with no fire or smoke. • CR 306 on Wednesday for a tractor on fire. • North FM 908 near Apache Trail on Friday for a motorist who struck several wild hogs. • US 77 and FM 908 on Sunday for traffic control.

Milam County 4-H won top honors at the Central Texas State Consumer Decision Making Invitational Contest on Saturday, Nov. 20, in Gatesville.

People have firm beliefs on what’s better for the holidays: a natural tree from the nearby tree farm or an artificial tree purchased at the store. Proponents for both side haves their share of opinions regarding which is more environmentally friendly or fiscally responsible.

MTOL fundraiser set for December 12 The Milam Touch of Love, a non-profit group that saves domestic pets all over Milam County will have a fundraiser on Dec. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Brett’s Backyard Bar-B-Que.

Bring on lots of meat dishes

Is everybody ready for more turkey? No? Me either! I will almost certainly not have turkey again until next Thanksgiving. So what shall we talk about this week? I think beef. I always like a beef meal after all that bird.

We had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. So now it’s time to get things ready for Christmas. We have two Christmas trees up and decorated. There is a big white one in the front window and a small one on a table as you come in the back door.

It’s Thanksgiving Day and I’m sitting at the kitchen table (which has been in our family for a million years) with my favorite barista, our youngest son Jack, who is drinking coffee and typing out an assignment for his speech communications class.
