Sting operation In August, a concerned citizen contacted Montgomery County game wardens regarding a neighbor keeping an alligator in his back yard. The wardens responded to the home where the alligator was reportedly kept.

MILAM COUNTY BROWN SANTA KICK OFF!!!

  Sheriff Mike Clore and The Milam County Sheriff’s Office is getting ready to host its 12th Annual BROWN SANTA PROGRAM, starting November 2nd.  The Milam County Sheriff’s Office is taking applications for those Milam County residences that would like to take advantage of the Brown Santa program.

COVID takes another life in Milam County bringing total to 89

Ladies & Gentlemen:  I regret to advise of another death this week. This brings the total to 89 deaths in Milam County due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.  We have 1 new case to report and 7 cases were discharged, leaving us with 5 confirmed, active cases in the County.

Ladies & Gentlemen:  I am sad to report another COVID related death in Milam County.  This brings the death toll to 88 since the pandemic started.  We have no new cases to report and 2 cases were discharged, leaving 11 confirmed active cases in the County.

Oney Toy Run set for Dec. 4th

The 16th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, at The Ranch starting at 9 a.m. The Bad to the Bone Riders sponsor this event each year and have raised over $94,000 for the less fortunate children of Milam County.

Rainwater harvesting workshop Friday

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District is holding a rainwater harvesting workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday. Field experts will be on hand to guide participants with the handson experience needed to implement a rainwater collection system of their own. Reserve a spot at posgcd.org.

Rockdale Peace Seekers AA meetings are at Crossroads Bible Church, 811 Burleson St. The meetings are scheduled on Tuesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Mike Clore announced his intention to seek the GOP nomination for Milam County Sheriff in the 2022 primary election on Saturday. Clore filed his appointment of campaign treasurer with the Milam County Clerk’s Office and for a place on the March 2022 Primary Ballot.

Commissioners decide against redistricting plans after census

At Monday’s County Commissioners Court meeting the redistricting of Milam County was discussed in public workshop. Redistricting is the process of redrawing district boundaries to guarantee equal voter representation.
