Earlier detection of breast cancer leads to higher survival rates It doesn’t discriminate. It’s an equal opportunity killer and it needs to be stopped. It’s breast cancer and this month in particular has been set aside to make people aware of its dangers.

We don’t realize how much we depend on the internet for work or play until it’s gone. I’m writing this first part on Wednesday, Oct. 8, currently the entire city is without internet, and I am bored and not able to get any work done.

10-20-40 YEARS AGO 40 YEARS AGO… It was an agonizingly tense day with an ecstatic ending as Rockdale High School’s Big Blue Band was named one of the top two bands in the UIL District VIII Marching Contest, held at Waco’s Baylor Stadium. The band was to advance to regional competition Nov. 2.

My sister-in-law, Noelia, had visited her mom in Mexico last week because she had been ill. She returned last Friday, but her mom passed away on Sunday night. So we are sad for her around the house. She was 91 so she lived a good, long life and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
