Can congress control its budget and debt mess? Working together maybe. The national debt is now at $31.5 trillion and counting. Were it to be divided among all income taxpayers, we’d each be on the hook for about a quarter million dollars.

Lots to be thankful for after past week

FALLING FAR FROM THE TREE After this past week I am truly thankful that the weather isn’t quite as cold and for many other things. Our electricity at home and at The Reporter went out about 4 a.m. Wednesday. We got the house back on Saturday and the office on Sunday.

By special arrangement the local Post of the American Legion secured the official U.S. Government picture of the World War—“America’s Answer,” which was to be shown one day at Maxie’s Theater on Feb. 9. The picture was made during the war by the U.S.
