Milam Touch of Love animal rescue will hold a fundraiser from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Cameron Beer Market with fun for the whole family.

Rockdale MDD to host open house about Rockdale’s future

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (RMDD) will host a Rockdale Mid-Century Plan Community Open House at Patterson Civic Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29. A process is already under way to update Rockdale’s comprehensive plan which will take our city into the year 2050.

Milano schools set to begin August 15

School starts for all students on Aug. 15. Please make sure you register your student, new and returning, online. Milano schools are always in need of substitute teachers. If you are interested please contact the school. Meals for elementary and junior high students will be free this school year.

No stove, oven required recipes

I am a true heat lover when it comes to the weather, but even for me these past few weeks have been almost too much. That said, I will take 100 degrees over cold weather any day. Here are some recipes that require no oven or stove to make, and as an added bonus, this first one is served chilled.

We had an enjoyable time with family this past weekend, as we gathered in Milano for Wayne’s family reunion. So good to see everyone.
