Black Jack Volunteer Fire Department will hold their 47th annual chili fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. at the fire station, 11341 FM 908 S. The all-you-can-eat chili meal is available for $10 for adults and $5 for children 2 to 10 years old.

Sheriff’s Office announces its Blaine Wall Initiative

The Milam County Sheriff’s Office announces the launch of the Blaine Wall Initiative, a targeted traffic enforcement effort on FM 485. This initiative is named in memory of Blaine, who tragically lost his life on FM 485 due to the actions of an erratic and dangerous driver.
RVFD DONATIONS— Fire Chief James McQuinn accepts a $2,000 donation from Business Systems and Communications Associate Kayla Schnell. The volunteer fire department also recently received $15,000 from Cappolino | Dodd | Krebs LLP, $1,000 from Dale Throckmorton, and $1,500 from Pete and Nancy Zenner.

Rockdale Community Market makes its return to Wolf Park on Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a reopening ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. The day will also feature a Car Show from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with judging starting at 10-a.m.

This week, I decided to do something I rarely do — talk about myself. My name is Tamara. I am Tamara Suzette Hebert — also known in different seasons of life as Tamara S. Powell and Tamara S. Norris. I am a Crayton, Moultry, Sansom, Norwood and Hebert. That is my lineage. That is my legacy.
