MVFD drive-thru chili supper, drawing set for February 20

Milano Volunteer Fire Department chili supper will be a drive-thru only event this year. The annual fundraiser is set for Feb. 20 starting at 4:30 p.m. at the fire station. Meals will cost $10 for adults and will include chili, beans, fixings, dessert and tea.

County waiting on new doses of COVID-19 vaccine

County Judge Steve Young said  that the county should get 600 doses of the vaccine for next week.  “Although we do not yet have confirmation, we will set up two clinics to administer the doses, which will be Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

County COVID-19 positivity rate at 28%

Today's testing is in Thorndale at the Thorndale VFW from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Milam County residents with COVID symptoms, may get a free antigen test. Since Sept. 1 we have tested 2,553 individuals with 729 positive results with a 28% positivity rate.   "Today we were able to compile our numbers again.

Businesses still at 50% occupancy; bars closed

Friday there were 20 individuals tested in Buckholts, with six positive results. Since Sept. 1, there have been 2,553 individuals tested with 729 positive results for a 28% positivity rate. Tuesday's testing will be in Thorndale at the Thorndale VFW from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

COVID-19 testing continues in county

 Thursday 26 individuals were tested in Cameron, with 7 positive results. Since Sept. 1,  there have been 2,533 individuals tested with 703 positive results for a  28% positivity rate. Today's testing is in Buckholts at the Buckholts VFD from 8: a.m. to noon.

Call for tree limb pickup before Jan. 22

Rockdale residents may have storm debris removed at no charge through January 22. Once limbs have been placed at the curb, contact City Hall at 512-446-2511 to schedule a pick up.

COVID-19 takes three more lives

Three more Milam County residents have died from COVID-19, County Judge Steve Young reported Tuesday. "This brings the death toll to 18 in Milam County, since our first infection back in March 2020.

Work on Brushy Creek bridge set to start Friday

The construction for the replacement of the bridge at Brushy Creek on FM 908 will begin Friday. Drivers can expect delays, and through traffic will be detoured along FM 486 and FM 487. The $1.8 million project is expected to be complete in May.
