School year off and running

The school year is off and running! New kids, new schedules, new friends. New bus stops. Please be observant and watch for students entering and exiting buses. TEXAS HEAT— I often wonder, this time of year, if the heat will ever let up. August and September can be rough.

Shrimp salad three ways

Shrimp is one of my favorite foods and I like it cooked all kinds of ways. During these dog days of summer, shrimp salad is always a favorite. This first one is a fairly classic American shrimp salad.

Rockdale PD reports two traffic accidents during past week

Accidents • Ofc. Jacobs responded to Milam at Main Street for a two-vehicle accident on Aug. 14 at 6:45 a.m. • Sgt. Strouth responded to 209 East Ferguson for a Ryder rental truck which stuck a pole on Aug. 16 at 2:55 p.m.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • Rockdale General Store for a propane tank on fire on Aug. 13 at 11:38 a.m. • 717 Vernon for a smoke alarm on Aug. 14 at 4:15 p.m. • 209 East Ferguson for a grass fire on Aug. 16 at 2:55 p.m.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

CamRock Clinic, Rockdale’s only healthcare choice

With the closure of HealthPoint Clinic, CamRock Clinic is Rockdale’s only healthcare office until Integrity Urgent Care opens later this year. CamRock Clinic was opened by Teri Buchanan in August of 2020 and has offices in both Rockdale and Cameron.

Lightning strikes oil tank Sunday

RISD awards $375,592 in states TIA program
