VFW Post 6525 Auxiliary held their annual school supply drive just in time for school to start on Tuesday and they had their biggest year ever with 176 bags of supplies given away to area students.

CamRock Clinic and its employees are celebrating their 5th anniversary with a party this Friday, Aug. 15, from 12-noon to 2 p.m. Until later this year, CamRock is going to be Rockdale’s only medical clinic, so it’s a great time to come meet the staff.

I am also thankful for another school year. Watching kids go from tiny to seniors is still awe inspiring to me. And it happens so fast. I want to remind you that school buses are out and about. I see people ignore the “STOP” sign all the time.

Rockdale ISD announced the hiring of Eliezer Ortiz as the new Assistant Band Director at Rockdale Junior High School for the 2025– 2026 school year. Ortiz is a recent graduate of Texas A&M University– Central Texas, where he earned a Bachelor of Music with a minor in Education.
