Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway, according to Allen Sanders, spokesman for the annual Christmas Cheer drive.
Applications can be picked up at The Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.
Deadline to nominate families or individuals who are in need of assistance this Christmas will be Friday, Dec. 6.
“More than 300 families were served by this program last year,” he said.” Christmas Roundup is making every effort to work with other agencies in the community to serve as many homes as possible.”
Monetary donations can be deposited in the Christmas Roundup account at Citizens National Bank or sent to PO Box 766, Rockdale, Texas 76567.
Toy donations can be taken to Rock-dale Signs at anytime. “Other dropoff locations for toys will be available soon,” Sanders said.
The Knights of Columbus Hall on US 79 , east of town, will be open on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 4-7 p.m. to accept Toy donations and for setup.
On Monday Dec. 16, the KC Hall will open at 9 a.m. for volunteers to help fill boxes for delivery to needy families.
“Persons who have designated that they want to pick up their Christmas Roundup boxes will be able to do so from 5-7 p.m. on Monday evening, Dec. 16.
Delivery date for Christmas Roundup boxes will be Tuesday, Dec. 17, beginning at 9 a.m.
“Families who elected to pick up their boxes and did not do so on Monday, Dec. 16, may come to the KC Hall at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to receive their boxes,” Sanders said.
Volunteers are needed all days, especially on Dec. 17, to help with delivery.
