The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Summer Games of Texas were held July 30 through Aug. 2, bringing together young athletes from across the state. The Robertson County Str iders, a Hearnebased youth track program, includes athletes from Rockdale and Cameron ISDs.

The Rockdale Tigers hosted Lexing ton and Hearne, both nicknamed the Eagles, in a three-team scrimmage Thursday night at Tiger Stadium. Big Blue found success running the ball against both opponents but struggled to establish its passing game during the first scrimmage of the season.

Rockdale’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams earned top-three finishes during tournament play in Navasota last week, with the varsity placing third and the JV finishing second in its division. The varsity Lady Tigers placed second in pool play Thursday after going 2-1.

Rockd ale High School 2026 graduate Brody Willard has commi t ted to continue his baseball career at Nelson University in Waxahachie. Willard batted .412 during his senior season for the Tigers and was flawless defensively in center field, recording 27 putouts without an error.
