Thorndale’s Bethany Preusse brought home a gold medal and a silver medal from last week’s Charles Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin. She claimed first place in shot put with a throw of 44-6 and second place in discus with a throw of 153-6.

TEMPLE—Rockdale golf teams were in Temple last week for the district tournament. The boys placed third in district with a team score of 342. They were led by Zeb Skrhak (75), Shawn McKie (85) and Mason Lillard (88). Skrhak and Lillard advance to regionals as medalists.

TEMPLE—The Thorndale golf teams took part in the district tournament in Temple last week with the boys having a great day on the course. Individually, the Bulldogs claimed the top three spots with Cooper Gray, Case McDaniel and Kade Becker finishing first, second and third, respectively.

The Thorndale Bulldogs had back to back nights of district games last week. On Tuesday, they traveled to Holland and defeated the Hornets, 14-1. On Wednesday night, they hosted Rosebud-Lott in a match up of the top two teams in the district.

The Rockdale Tiger baseball and softball teams played Little River-Academy last week with both teams traveling to Little River- Academy on Tuesday and hosting them on Wednesday. The games originally scheduled for Thursday were moved up a day in preparation for the rainy weather later in the week.

This Tuesday would have been Alex Sandoval’s 16th birthday. Alex passed away in May of 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. This week we remember Alex and what a superb athlete she was at such a young age.
