A wise man once said, “The respect you show to others (or lack thereof) is an immediate reflection of yourself.” As I look at today’s world, there seems to be a lack of respect within a lot of people. Folks will disrespect their peers for having differing opinions, political views, or just because they think it’s acceptable. What people need to learn is that even though you may not care for a certain person, a level of respect should still be present. Two men that had to learn the importance of respect were NBA legends Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas.
Thorndale Boys – The Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season as the fell short to the IA No. 3 ranked Calvert Cavaliers 59-40. Blake Roberts led the Bulldogs in scoring with 11 points. Other scorers included Logan Davis 7, Dean Johnson 7, Jake Ivy 6, Chance Betak 5, Cayden Nicholson 3 and Cain Brymer 2.
On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Normangee to face off against a tough Lady Panthers team. They were defeated 52-27.
The Tigers have kicked off their season with a solid start as they are 1-1 on the season. Before Thanksgiving break, the young Tigers went to battle against the JV Milano Eagles. The Tigers were victorious against the Eagles 49-35. Chris Miles Jr. led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points. Other scorers included: Devin Hicks 14, AJ Hicks 6, James Cervantes 5, Mason Willard 4, and Levar Beckwith 2.
Several members of the Rockdale Tiger football team were named to the 3A-Division I District 11 All-District teams.
