The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association hosted end-of-season tournaments for ages 6U-10U this past weekend. In the 6U division, RTX Elite were crowned champions, with Heavy Hitters coming in second. The 8U division had the Milano Eagles taking the championship with RTX Elite taking second place.

Three area athletes qualified for state meets in track and field competition. Rockdale high jumper Dre Stephens is the Class 3A Region III Champ, while Thorndale’s Bethany Preusse is the Class 2A Region IV Champ in the discus and the shot put.

STATE TOURNAMENT—The Rockdale Tigers had two student athletes in the Class 3A State Golf Tournament in Austin at the Jimmy Clay Golf Course last week. Mason Lillard (R) and Zeb Skrhak competed very well in the tournament.

Last week the Thorndale Bulldogs baseball team (14-4, 9-2) completed their “Drive for Five,” earning their fifth consecutive District Championship. CHILTON —On Wednesday, the Bulldogs defeated Chilton (0-10, 0-9), 23-0, in Granger to clinch the district title.
