Top tips for spring fishing

Fishing attracts millions of enthusiasts. The American Sportfishing Association says one in six Americans are anglers, which equates to more than 50 million anglers nationwide.

Three Milano Lady Eagles have received post-season honors. Kira Cooper, Arabella Flores and Hannah Bakken were named to the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association’s Academic All-State Elite Team.

FIRST PLACE— Thorndale Bulldog golfer Cooper Gray took first place individually in last week’s Bremond Tournament with a score of 78. The Thorndale Bulldog team—consisting of Gray, Will Cloud, Case McDaniel, Wyatt Betak and Kade Becker— finished in second place overall.

Spring sports, WBC and MLB

With t he month of April upon us, March has been the lead off to the full season of spring sports. With the youth of Rockdale having their opening ceremonies in the month of March, you can easily catch a youth softball or baseball game to watch, and I very much encourage that.

Stutts three-peats

Thorndale Lady Bulldog powerlifter Jordyn Stutts (R) became a three-time state champion last week in Edinburg at the Class 2A State Meet. She had an incredible day, setting three new state records and hitting four new personal records.

Three members of the Thorndale Bulldogs basketball team recently received post-season honors. Tristan Garcia was selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Second Team Academic All-State squad.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tiger baseball and softball teams played Lexington last week as they continued district play. They hosted Lexington on Tuesday at the Tiger Sports Complex and then on Friday they made the trip down US 77 to finish the series.
