Tar Heels aim for first CWS title

The 2026 College World Series will wrap up this week with the University of Oklahoma Sooners (43-23) and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels (5413) playing for the National Championship in Omaha, Nebraska. The Tar Heels are aiming for their first ever national title in baseball.

Becker named All-State

Thorndale junior catcher Kade Becker was recently named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSCBA) Class 2A All-State Third Team. Becker earned the statewide honor following a standout season behind the plate for the Bulldogs. 

Fit 22 Football Camp set for July 11 in Rockdale

Aspiring football players from across the area will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills this summer at the Fit 22 Football Camp in Rockdale. The camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Tiger Stadium in Rockdale.

12U ALL-STARS ADVANCE

The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association 12U All-Stars have advanced to the next round of the Pony League All-Star postseason. The team battled through two victories on Sunday to qualify for the section al championship round and earn an opportunity to com pete for the tournament title.

11 Tigers receive all-district honors

Eleven Rockdale Tiger baseball players received postseason recognition following the 2026 season, earning either all-district or academic all-district honors in District 19-3A. Brody Willard headlined the list by being named the district’s Co-Defensive MVP.

Preusse named Girls Track Athlete of the Year

Thorndale Lady Dog standout Bethany Preusse has been named the Austin American- Statesman Girls Track Athlete of the Year and was also selected as a finalist for the publication’s Overall Female Athlete of the Year award.
