The Rockdale Tiger baseball and softball teams played Little River-Academy last week with both teams traveling to Little River- Academy on Tuesday and hosting them on Wednesday. The games originally scheduled for Thursday were moved up a day in preparation for the rainy weather later in the week.

This Tuesday would have been Alex Sandoval’s 16th birthday. Alex passed away in May of 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. This week we remember Alex and what a superb athlete she was at such a young age.

The 2026 Rockdale JV boys golf team brought home the District 19-3A championship last week. The team of Marcos Santellano, Kade Lillard, Kaden McGowan and Luke Olivares combined to shoot a 410 to win the meet. Lillard and Olivares both shot a 94, finishing second and third overall individually.

The Thorndale Bulldogs traveled to Bremond last Tuesday to take on the Tigers in a district match up. The Bulldogs soundly defeated the Tigers, 22-0. Kade Becker was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched giving up one hit and no runs, while striking out eight.

Two weeks ago at the Donald Beard Relays in Thorndale, Lady Dog Bethany Preusse (L) set a new school record in the shot put with a throw of 46’-1/2”. The Rockdale Tigers baseball team had one game last week against the Pflugerville Connally Cougars. The Tigers won convincingly against the bigger school, 10-0. Mason Lillard got the start and win for the Tigers pitching five innings allowing only two hits and striking out eight.
