THORNDALE—Thorndale High School track teams hosted the Donald Beard Relays last week. In addition to Thorndale, other teams competing were from Bartlett, Bremond, Granger, Lexington, Milano and Thrall. Following are the results for Thorndale and Milano. DONALD BEARD RELAYS Varsity boys 100— 5.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

TUESDAY— The Thorndale Bulldogs had their district home opener March 17 against the Bartlett Bulldogs. They defeated the Bulldogs, 7-1. Players of the game were winning pitcher Kade Becker and designated hitter Wyatt Betak.

Tigers fall in bi-district action

The Rockdale Tigers soccer team fell in bi-district action last week to the Lorena Leopards, 3-1. Angel Rivera scored the Tigers’ goal with an assist from Jesus Luna. The Tigers finished the season 14-9-1 overall and 10-6 in District 24-4A.

Three named to Elite Team

Following last week’s state meet in Edinburg, three Thorndale Lady Bulldogs received post-season honors. Jordyn Stutts, Riley Shock and Addyson Bland were named to the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Elite Academic All-State Powerlifting Team.

Rockdale High School powerlifter Annabelle Alvarez Hernandez finished 12th in state in Class 3A last week in the 242-plus weight class. “We are so proud of her for all the hard work and dedication that she puts into this sport and can’t wait to see where she takes us in the next two years!

The Rockdale Girls Softball Association held its Opening Day on Saturday in Rockdale with teams from all divisions playing. At least 180 were registered to play this season.

ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

WEST—Over the weekend, the Rockdale boys powerlifting team competed in the regional meet at West High School to close out their season. Competing were Cohen Razo, eighth; Luke Olivares, 10th; Kevin Rodriguez Gamaez, 10th; Ragan Roberts, eighth; Abel Castillo, 12th; and Bryson Duncan, 5th.

ROCKDALE GOLF

The Rockdale Tiger golf team scored their best team total of the season with a score of 328 in the Pflugerville Weiss Classic at Shadow Glen in Manor. They battled throughout the day in the wet conditions. Mason Lillard took first place score with a 72 and the team placed fourth among 17 teams.

ROCKDALE BASKETBALL

Three Rockdale Lady Tiger basketball seniors were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Academic All-State Second Team. Players receiving the honors were Grace Patton, Trinity Hurd and Jerneé Mitchell.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tiger softball and baseball teams played their arch rival Cameron Yoe last week. On Tuesday both teams traveled across the river to play. Then both teams hosted the Yoe on Friday. TUESDAY— The Tigers came home with a win, defeating the Yoe, 8-1.
