Steve T. Pruett, 64, of Rockdale passed away suddenly Monday, Oct. 12, 2026. A memorial visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Bro. Bob Harris officiating. Pruett was born Aug. 5, 1962.

SAN MARCOS—Edward Russell Caffey passed away on Sept. 18, 2026, at the age of 74. Bo r n o n Jan. 28, 1952, in Houston, he spent his childhood in Thorndale. After graduating from high school, he moved to San Marcos where he met his beloved wife, and they spent the next 50 years together.

TYLER—James Thomas (J.T.) Hill

TYLER—James Thomas (J.T.) Hill, 82, of Tyler passed away on Aug. 21, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He was born Dec. 27, 1943, a native of Huntingdon, Tennessee. H e w as the son of Iva and Tommie Hill. He lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, creativity and gratitude.

Mr. Perry AUSTIN—Sam Rutherford Perry of Austin died on Sept. 11, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1934, in Rockdale to S am P e r ry and Melba Mignon Rutherford Perry. He g raduated from Rockdale High School in 1951. He enrolled at The University of Texas in June 1951.

Mr. James GRAPEVINE—Jerome “Jerry” James, 75, of Grapevine passed away from complications of Parkinson’s Disease on Sept. 1, 2026. Jerry was born on Sept. 29, 1950 (his m o t h e r ’ s birthday), to Elaine and Calvin James in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Jerry was the eldest of three sons.

Mrs. Paris Claudine Joyce Paris, 90, of San Marcos passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2026, at her home s u r r ou nd ed by her son and daughter (and dear f r iend, Ar i Helle). Born in 1935 in Salty, she was the youngest of five daughters born to Claude and Augusta Mullins.
