ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

Rockdale Lady Tigers powerlifters participated in the regional meet in Dublin last week. Anabelle Alvarez Hernandez is the region champ in her weight class and will head to the state meet in a couple of weeks.

Bulldogs area champs, facing No. 21 Port Aransas

MONTGOMERY—The Thorndale Bulldogs (29-4) continue their roll through the UIL Class 2A basketball bracket with a 68-55 win over the Sabine Pass Sharks (25-7) Friday in Montgomery. With their victory, they extended their winning streak to 18 games.

ROCKDALE TENNIS

Rockdale Tiger tennis hosted the Rockdale Invitational last week with some great competition. Teams from Waco Robinson, Cameron, Schulenburg, Rogers, Thorndale and Granger were invited to the tournament.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Rockdale Tigers (12-7-1, 8-5) soccer team played two games on the road last week, winning one and losing one. They beat Taylor (10-8-1, 6-6), 5-2, and lost a 3-1 game to Giddings (7-12-1, 7-6). In the Taylor game, Wilmer Sorto had three goals and Angel Rivera had two.

Tigers fall to Fairfield in bi-district

CHINA SPRING—The Rockdale Tigers (16-18) basketball season came to an end Monday night as they fell to the Fairfield Eagles (20-8), 63-43, at China Spring High School. The Tigers battled with the Eagles in the first half keeping the game close.

Basketball season to build on; Stephens nabs 2 more honors

The 2025-2026 Tiger basketball season came to an end on Monday night in the bi-district round of the UIL state playoffs, as Big Blue was defeated by the Fairfield Eagles. Of course the season is over and ended with a loss, but the Rockdale basketball program made great strides this season.

GIDDINGS—The Thorndale Bulldogs (28-4) extended their winning streak to 17 games Monday night with a 69-36 victory over the Bloomington Bobcats (1715) in the bi-district round of UIL Class 2A basketball playoffs.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

The Rockdale Tiger (11-61, 7-4) and Lady Tiger (5-11, 2-7) soccer teams had two matches each last week. The Lady Tigers traveled to Manor New Tech (9-7, 5-4) and lost in the penalty kick shootout, 3-1. Regulation score was 0-0. On Friday the Lady Tigers played in Salado (17-1, 10-0) and fell, 6-0.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tiger baseball team (5-0-1) traveled to Rosebud-Lott to play in the Rosebud-Lott Tournament last week. The Tigers went 3-0-1 with big wins over Taylor, Milano and Holland and a 0-0 tie with Teague. Tiger senior Brody Willard led the Tigers batting .455 for the tourney.
