ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tiger baseball team had their opening night at home against the Gonzales Apaches at Tiger Field. The Tigers got on board first in the third inning when Brody Willard hit a 2-run single to center field, scoring Kade Lillard and Austin Caldwell.

THORNDALE BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Thorndale Lady Dogs softball team (1-2) competed last week in the Somerville Tournament. The defeated Cypress Christian, 6-1, and lost to Anderson-Shiro, 7-1, and Danbury, 4-3. THIS WEEK— The Lady Bulldogs will play in the La Grange Tournament later this week.

Granger FAIR. Water stained; 48 degrees; 0.20 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on jigs and Rattl-traps fished up river around timber. Crappie are showing up in shallow sloughs and coves off the river with night fishing producing best.

ROCKDALE JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL

Last week’s Rockdale Junior High basketball results against the Little River-Academy Bumblebees were: • BOYS— Tigers 8A won, 37-27; Tigers 8B lost, 21-20; Tigers 7A lost, 54-16; and Tigers 7B tied, 11-11. Standouts were Sebastian Tenorio, Hutch Hamrick, Luke Willingham and Canaan Miles.

CALDWELL—The Rockdale Lady Tigers golf team played in their first tournament of the year last week at Copperas Hollow in Caldwell. Coach Trey Young said he was proud of the girls, “they played hard and competed well.”

The Rockdale High School basketball teams were on the hardwood last week playing Franklin and Thrall. FR ANKLIN— The Tigers (14-16, 8-1) traveled to Franklin (11-10, 5-5) on Tuesday and improved their District 19-3A record to 7-1 in district play.

Tigers ’26 football schedule released

The 2026 Rockdale football schedule was recently released. The Tigers will play two scrimmages in August before k icking off t he s eason Aug. 28 in Giddings. They will have a bye week before district play begins on Sept. 25 against Troy. The regular season will end on Nov.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Thorndale Bulldogs (24-4, 9-0) extended their winning streak to 13 games last week with a 60-32 victory over the Granger Lions (19-9, 8-2). Thorndale is currently ranked 16th in Class 2A by MaxPreps and they continue to sit on top of the Disctrict 27-2A standings with a 9-0 record.

Bulldogs move to District 13-2A after UIL realignment

With the new UIL district realignments announced last week, the Thorndale Bulldogs now find themselves in District 13-2A Division I. The prior two seasons, the Bulldogs were in District 14-2A Division I with Harper, Holland, Johnson City, Mason and San Saba.

The Rockdale Tiger baseball and the Lady Tiger softball seasons are getting under way, with both teams having scrimmages last week. The Tigers were to host Mumford Tuesday (after The Reporter deadline).
