ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS

The Rockdale varsity tennis season has started with the Tigers hosting the Rockdale Open last week. Teams in town for the tourney were Lago Vista, Cameron, Rogers and Thorndale. Results for the Tigers and Lady Tigers are as follows:  • Mason Lillard/Brody Willard— first in boys doubles.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

ROGERS— The Rockdale Tiger (15-17, 9-2) varsity basketball fell to the Rogers Eagles (10-13, 5-6), 53-49, on Feb. 10 for only its second loss in district. The JV Gold lost to Rogers, 29-21, and the JV Blue lost to Rogers as well, 27-25.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Thorndale Bulldogs (26-4, 11-0) overpowered the Holland Hornets (3-21, 0-10) and Bartlett Bulldogs (226, 6-3) last week, extending their winning streak to 15 games. They defeated Holland, 71-19, and Bartlett, 61-30. Thorndale continues to sit on top of District 27-2A with an 11-0 record.
CHAMPIONS AGAIN— The Milano Lady Eagles powerlifting team dominated the Mustang Strong Invitational meet in Madisonville Meet last Thursday, taking home first place as a team for their third team championship of the season. Not pictured but still a big part of the win are: Hannah Bakken, Natalie Contreras and Kira Cooper. The Milano Eagles powerlifters also had two medalists—J.D. Medalists for the Lady Dogs were Jordyn Stutts, first in 148; Riley Shock, second in 181; and Lydia Melcher, third in 114. Stutts was also named the Best Female Lifter of the meet. Thorndale varsity tennis team traveled to Rockdale on Feb. 11 and faced some great competition. Lady Dogs Reese Cloud and Audrie Jordan came home with third place in girls doubles.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Tiger baseball team had their opening night at home against the Gonzales Apaches at Tiger Field. The Tigers got on board first in the third inning when Brody Willard hit a 2-run single to center field, scoring Kade Lillard and Austin Caldwell.

THORNDALE BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Thorndale Lady Dogs softball team (1-2) competed last week in the Somerville Tournament. The defeated Cypress Christian, 6-1, and lost to Anderson-Shiro, 7-1, and Danbury, 4-3. THIS WEEK— The Lady Bulldogs will play in the La Grange Tournament later this week.

TP&W FISHING REPORT

Granger FAIR. Water stained; 48 degrees; 0.20 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on jigs and Rattl-traps fished up river around timber. Crappie are showing up in shallow sloughs and coves off the river with night fishing producing best.

ROCKDALE JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL

Last week’s Rockdale Junior High basketball results against the Little River-Academy Bumblebees were: • BOYS— Tigers 8A won, 37-27; Tigers 8B lost, 21-20; Tigers 7A lost, 54-16; and Tigers 7B tied, 11-11. Standouts were Sebastian Tenorio, Hutch Hamrick, Luke Willingham and Canaan Miles.
