THORNDALE BASEBALL

400 WINS— Thorndale Bulldogs Baseball Coach Kelly Kuhl was recently recognized for his 400th career win at the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association convention in Waco. It is an incredible milestone for Coach Kuhl’s years of leadership, commitment and Bulldog pride.

ROCKDALE POWERLIFTING

The Rockdale High School powerlifting team participated in the Cameron Yoe Invitational meet last week and came away with some nice results. Coach Brenten Drummond said, “Fantastic night for our lifters” with the boys finishing first overall in the meet and the girls finishing fifth as a team.

AREA POWERLIFTING

CAMERON—Milano powerlifting got off to a strong start in their first meet of the season last week in Cameron. The Lady Eagles team were meet champions, while the Eagles placed third out of 10 teams.

FAIR. Water stained; 54 degrees; 0.48 feet above pool. Black bass are fair on crankbaits fished up river around timber. Crappie are fair in deep water near the dam. White bass are fair up river in areas where shad are concentrated. Blue catfish are good on jug lines baited with shad.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER

Rockdale soccer teams started district play with both girls and boys varsity winning their matches against Caldwell in Tiger Stadium last week. The Tigers won 6-0 and the Lady Tigers came out on top 2-0. Both varsity teams fell to Manor New Tech—the Tigers, 1-0, and the Lady Tigers, 2-1.

After another 2-0 week on the courts, the Rockdale Tigers (10-14, 4-0) are now first in District 19-3A. Last week they topped Thrall, 64-41, and Rogers, 50-43. THRALL— The Tigers traveled down US 79 to take on the Tigers of Thrall on Tuesday.

MILANO BASKETBALL

The Milano Eagles (2-12, 1-3) and Lady Eagles (4-23, 1-5) traveled to Rosebud- Lott last week and came out on the losing end—57-37 and 50-28, respectively. THIS WEEK— The Eagles will host the Thorndale Bulldogs (19-4, 4-0) at 8 p.m.

THORNDALE BASKETBALL

The Thorndale Bulldogs (19-4, 4-0) picked up two more wins last week on the court. They defeated the Granger Lions, 52-31, on Tuesday and the Holland Hornets, 77-22, on Friday. The Bulldogs are in first place in District 27-2A, with an eight-game winning streak.

The NFL and the college football playoffs continue to roll into the deep part of the season. In the NFL, the divisional is next with eight teams remaining in the playoffs. Buffalo and Denver will face off at 3 p.m. Saturday.
