CAMERON—The Milam Appraisal District (AD) is seeking applications to serve on its Appraisal Review Board (ARB).
The ARB hears and resolves disputes over appraisal matters based on evidence provided by the taxpayer and the appraisal district.
Deadline to apply is Jan. 17. An applicant must have been a Milam County resident for at least two years. No special qualifications required, but ARB members may not be a member of the AD board of directors, be employed by the AD, be a member of a governing body or taxing entity, or employed by the Comptroller s office.
Applicants are also prohibited from serving if they are a paid tax agent or related to one, have a substantial interest in business that contracts with the appraisal district or a taxing entity, or if they are a public official.
Members of the ARB must be available throughout the protest season as needed and attend mandatory paid training. Members will be appointed to two-year terms and can serve a maximum of three.
Members are not eligible for employee benefits, but may be paid a per diem of $120 per day plus mileage and meals. To apply, stop by the AD Office in Cameron or go online to milamad.org.
