Fiddler, vocalist and band leader Paul Schlesinger of Taylor was inducted into the Western Swing Music Society of the Southwest (WSMSS) Hall of Fame in Lawton, Okla.

He was lauded for promotion and performance of western swing music.

“I am honored to be considered a vital part of this musical treasure,” Schlesinger said. “Western swing is more than just music. It’s living history and the people who follow it are like one big family.”

Schlesinger has been performing Texas Swing, traditional country, and country gospel music since 1997. Early performances were at the Lexington Senior Citizens Center and the Thorndale Country and Gospel Jamboree where house band members included Bill Dowdy, Jimmy Hester, Joe Rodgers, Bill Cooke, Terry Easterwood, Glenn Schneider, Duck Shuffield, AT Shuffield, Ima Jean Weise, Derial Lutz, Chip Dunsmoor, Dennis Schroeder, Tina Galbreath, Deby Leschber and others over the Jamboree’s almost two-decade run.

Schlesinger was a member of the Milam County Cowboy Church band from 2009 to 2016 and led the music team for the Cowboy Church of Lee County from 2017 to 2020. He has performed with the Burleson County Cowboy Church Band and at yearly Milano Volunteer Fire Department chili supper fundraiser.

His band, the Knights of Texas Swing, play all over the state.
