Weather glitches don’t mar annual paegant

Destiny Arnold, an 18-year-old senior at Thorndale High School, was crowned Miss Rock-dale Fair 2018 Saturday before a crowd of more than 300 in the Rockdale Junior-High Commons.

The pageant was moved from the high school auditorium due to a power outage.

First runner-up at the annual pageant was Maddy Moody and second runner-up was Tasha San Migel.

Mistress of ceremonies was supposed to be Mad-is0n Fuller, Miss Texas 2018. But she was unable to get to Rockdale because of the weather.

“Pinch-hitter” emcee ws the 2017 Miss Rockdale Fair Queen, Caitlin Garcia.

WINNERS—The new Miss Rockdale Fair Queen is the daughter of Scott Arnold and Jennifer Arnold. She was sponsored by Covert Ford of Hutto.

This year’s first runner-up is the daughter of Melanie and Jason Moody and is a 16-year-old junior at Rockdale High School. Her sponsor was Moody Farms.

Brandon and Mandy San Migel are parents of the second runner-up, who is a 17-year-old senior at Rockdale High School. She was sponsored by Miller-Starnes Chevrolet-Buick.

There was a tie for the Miss Congeniality Award between Arbranae Sessoms and Jessa Cleveland.

Moody won the award for selling the most tickets

Pageant director, was Christie Betchan and producer was Deedra Rawls.

Caitlin Garcia, 2017 Rockdale Fair Queen, was introduced and participated in the crowning of her successor.

Patti Darby introduced children’s pageant winners. (See page 4B.)

Garcia introduced judges Sydney Saladrigas, Skylar Vantz and Misty Wilson.

ENTERTAINMENT— Entertainment was by Fuller, Denice Doss, Courtney Eoff, Cale Rick-man and members of the RHS Golden Girls drill team.

Contestants and sponsors were as follows:
