RSBC to host revival,
play in future weeks
Rising Star Baptist
Church, 1055 Texas Street, Rev. Royal Johnson, pastor, has a number of activities planned in upcoming
weeks.
The church is currently conducting a drive for new and gently used tennis
shoes for students of the
Rockdale ISD.
Donations will be accepted after 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through Oct. 31 at the church.

REVIVAL—Rising Star’s fall revival continues through Thursday.
Services begin at 7 p.m. each day. Speaker will be Dr. Anthony Lang, pastor of West Union Baptist Church, Bryan.
PLAY—At 7 p.m. Nov. 3, the church’s Fine Arts Ministry will present a faith-based play written and directed by Stanley Miller.Co-director is Joyce Ford.
Title is “The Life of Emma Pearl/The Burial of Old Jack Devil.” Donation is $5 per person.
VETERANS DAY—Special guest speaker during the 11 a.m. service on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, will be Willy Culberson (U.S. Army, retired) of Smithville.
FOOD FOR KIDS—Rising Star holds a “Food for Kids” meal at 5 p.m. each fourth Wednesday. Anyone wishing to donate to this effort can call Rev. Johnson, 512-576-4483.
New grief ministries
set at Meadowbrook
Meadowbrook Baptist Church is sponsoring new ministries for the community entitled “GriefShare.”
Three new grief groups are being added in the next few months as follows:
• Nov. 3—Surviving the Holiday, a 2-½ hour seminar.
• Jan. 7, 2019—Loss of a Spouse, a 2-½ hour seminar.
• Jan. 14-April 8, 2019—GriefShare, a 13-week video program taught by 46 of the top leaders in grief and recovery.

LDS church plans food drive for Food Pantry
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will hold a food drive at three locations Saturday to benefit the Rockdale Christian Services Food Pantry.
Locations are Walmart, Brookshire Bros. and Dollar General.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
The food pantry is in need of canned goods, beans, rice and other non-perishables.
Thorndale FBC plans
Fall Fest for Oct. 28th
THORNDALE—First Baptist Church of Thorndale has set its annual Fall Fest/ Trunk or Treat for 6 to 8 p.m Sunday, Oct. 28.
Activities will include carnival games, candy, a hot dog supper and more.
Costumes are welcome and the public is invited, according to a church spokesperson.
Thorndale FBC is located off US 79.
Thorndale church plans benefit banquet Nov. 3
THORNDALE—Mount Zion Baptist Church of Thorndale, Rev L.E. Caldwell Sr., pastor, is having a benefit banquet Saturday. Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. at the Thorndale Chamber of Commerce Hall, 120 South Main.

Calvary Baptist to host fall carnival Oct. 24th
Calvary Baptist Church of Rockdale will host its annual fall carnival on Wednesday, Oct. 24th.
Hours are 6 to 8 p.m.
The carnival will feature food, games, multiple inflatables and a “trunk or treat.
Calvary Baptist Church is located at 1443 South FM 487 (Wilcox Street).
Meadowbrook observes 100 years of Association
On Sunday, Meadowbrook Baptist Church commemorated 100 years of the Milam County Baptist Association.
Oct. 9-11, 1918, the Little River Baptist Association messengers voted to disband and reorganize as the Milam County Baptist Association.
Its first officers were: B.B. Blaylock, Cameron, moderator; E. A. Finn, Cameron, treasurer; Gussie Rowlett, Rockdale, recording clerk, C. L. Spradley and M. L. Pardo, Cameron, missionaries.
Also during Sunday’s service Dr. Patrick Knowlton was confirmed as missions director for the FIRM Baptist Area.
Longtime director Charles Cole and wife Brenda, are retiring at the end of this calendar year.
First Presbyterian sets car show for Nov. 10th
First Presbyterian Church has scheduled its Nov 10 second annual Classic Car Show and Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10.
Awards will be announced at 1 p.m. There will be “goodie bags” for pre-registered cars and there is a $20 entry fee per vehicle registration: www.fpcrockdale.com.

• Bible study, 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays in Fellowship Hall, led by Pastor David Puss-man.
• Sunday School resumed for pre-schoolers through 6th graders on Sunday; choir practice at 7 p.m.

• Oct. 31: Trunk or Treat, 5:30 p.m., parking lot under new pavilion.
• Nov 4: Dedicate new pavilion after All Saints Day worship service.
• Nov. 13: Women of the Church meet at the home of Annette Griesbach; coffee at 9:30 a.m., meeting begins at 10.
